    In 2015, Mr. Jackson founded and served as chief executive officer of Capital Waste Solutions, which collects and treats medical waste for most segments of the U.S. healthcare industry. He has served on the boards of various public companies, including First Interstate Bank of Oklahoma, Boatmen’s Bank of Oklahoma and Silicon Valley Bank of California. He is a past board member of Iron Gate, St. Simeon’s Episcopal Home and the State Governing Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma, previously volunteering as a Big Brother for 15 years.

    Mr. Jackson currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of The University of Tulsa, participating as a member of the Executive Committee and Chair of the Audit Committee.     C. Erik Hawes serves intellectual property clients primarily in patent litigation and prelitigation disputes, patent prosecution, management of patent and trademark portfolios, due diligence concerning IP issues in transactions, and day-to-day counseling concerning IP issues of every size and shape. While he has a strong background in other industries, Erik works extensively in the upstream oil and gas industry, with experience in technology relating to multistage fracking, horizontal completions, wellhead isolation, directional drilling, downhole monitoring and measurement, OCTG (tubulars and connections), power sections, elastomeric components, drill bits, and offshore (HPHT) applications.

    In the arena of IP disputes, Erik handles all aspects of patent cases in jurisdictions from California to New York and from Texas to Minnesota. He has managed numerous patent cases between direct competitors, as well as large, multidefendant suits brought by nonpracticing patent owners. He has tried multiple patent cases and argued nine Markman hearings. Corporate clients from the consumer products, retail, e-commerce technology, and computer hardware and software industries seek Erik’s counsel. He has experience with complex commercial contract matters relating to patents, including the negotiation, interpretation, and application of agreements concerning confidentiality, licensing, and indemnity. He also handles cases involving trademark and copyright infringement.

    A frequent author and speaker on patent-related issues, Erik’s recent speeches have covered topics such as patent-eligible subject matter, the America Invents Act (AIA), indirect infringement, divided infringement, inequitable conduct, licensing, business method patents, venue and forum selection, and patent-related damages. He recently participated in the 16th Annual IP Symposium at the University of Texas School of Law, where he gave a presentation concerning the new standard of review for claim construction. Erik is listed in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in American Law.

    Erik worked at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, where he helped to design and test structural components for the space shuttle program before going to law school.

    Jim is a Chevron Fellow Emeritus and was a Distinguished Lecturer for the Society of Petroleum Engineers in 2010-2011, speaking on the topic of “Putting the Focus on Data.” He is a frequent speaker at SPE conferences on Digital/Intelligent Energy and the Data Foundation. His interests lie in the full spectrum of the information value chain from data capture, data management, data visualization, data access, modeling and analytics, simulations and serious gaming.

    While only a digital immigrant, Jim has embraced social media (with the help of his daughter, Emily, a real Digital Native) and is a fervent blogger and has experimented with YouTube like videos to help train and mentor the new generation of Digital Natives and Digital Engineers entering the oil and gas industry.

    In his last position with Chevron, Jim was the Senior Advisor in the Global Upstream IT organization and worked on a variety of strategy projects concerning the future of the IT function as it relates to the Digital Oil Field.

    CEO of Stepchange Global Limited, Tony has extensive experience in the oil and gas exploration and production industry worldwide. Tony has a BA degree from Keele University in Geology and Chemistry, and a Doctorate in Metamorphic Petrology from the University of Manchester. He had a 17 year career with BP that spanned R&D through to front line operations and project management. He was a founder member of BP’s Integrated Operations Program, Field of the Future, and was subsequently the global director for the Advanced Collaborative Environment Program that rolled out real time collaboration centers around the BP portfolio of assets. In 2006 he moved to BG-Group to launch its digital oilfield program under the name iValue. In January 2009 he co-founded Stepchange Global, a dedicated digital oilfield consultancy and advisory company, and has since advised Statoil, BP, PETRONAS, ConocoPhillips, Total, Santos, Origin Energy, Baker Hughes, HP, BHP Billiton, Emerson and BAE systems on their Integrated Operations strategies. 

    Tony is regarded as one of the key thought leaders in Digital Oilfield and Integrated Operations and has been active in both the SPE and EAGE. He was the chairman of the organising committee for the highly successful Intelligent Energy Conference in 2008, and is now on the SPE intelligent Energy committee for 2014. Tony was invited to sit on the SPE Annual Technical Conference Committee for 2011 and was Chairman of the Digital Energy Section. 

    Tony has written numerous papers on the subject of intelligent energy and collaborative working. The most recent paper was co-authored with Dr Anne Quaadgras of MIT.

Joe holds an B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and an M.S. in Finance from the University of Houston. He has also completed executive education at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management and Harvard Business School. He is active in the AIChE, ISA, COS, NOIA, OESI, SPE and Oil Council.
