    Sebastian Gass is the General Manager for Chevron’s Technology, Strategy and Services division within the IT Company (ITC). In this role, Gass is responsible for Chevron’s Digital Transformation Strategy, Data Science, Enterprise Architecture, Project Management, Operational Excellence, Supplier Management, Services Definition and Business Planning groups.

    He previously managed Chevron’s Data Center Infrastructure Asset which he transitioned into a hybrid cloud world via an Industry first partnership deal with Microsoft. Prior to that, Gass was the Regional IT Manager for Chevron North America Exploration and Production (CNAEP), responsible for the information technology needs of six business units focused on exploration and production of heavy oil, Unconventionals, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and deepwater. In this role, Gass was responsible for creating Chevron’s Data Science program as well as establishing Chevron’s digital platform for Unconventionals.

    Prior to joining Chevron in 2007, Gass was the chief technology officer and executive vice-president at Hubwoo, a publicly-traded European company that provides comprehensive spend management and business process collaboration for goods and services. He started his career in information technology with SAP in Palo Alto, CA.

    Sebastian holds a M.S. / MBA from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Karlsruhe Germany and a M.S. Engineering Management degree from Stanford University.

Prior to AWS, Mr. Vass was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Liquid Robotics, Inc., a pioneering Data as a Service, cloud-based solutions company that designs and builds autonomous robots that serve a wide range of customers in the energy, shipping, defense, communications, scientific, intelligence, and environmental markets.

    Prior to that, Mr. Vass was the President and Chief Operating Officer of Sun Microsystems Federal, an independent subsidiary of Sun Microsystems with its own board of directors. His responsibilities spanned product development, sales and business development, marketing, partner management, and service delivery. Before leading Sun Microsystems Federal, Mr. Vass served as Chief Information Officer at Sun, where he defined and delivered the technology vision and architecture while he managed global deployments in support of Sun’s 50K business users. During his time as CIO, Mr. Vass significantly improved security, availability, and application delivery, while reducing the overall operations cost of IT. Mr. Vass had a lengthy public service career. Working for the Secretary of Defense in the Office of the CIO, he was responsible for budget oversight, system and software acquisition, research, development, and integration standards for over 6,800 IT systems. His organization managed networks, servers, and applications across the Pentagon’s defense networks.

    Prior to joining the Office of the CIO, Mr. Vass was CTO and technical lead for the US Army’s personnel systems worldwide. Before his work at the DoD, Mr. Vass developed large-scale commercial information technology engineering and business systems solutions for defense system integrators, as well as the oil and gas and ocean engineering industries.

    Deimbacher has also worked in several technology startup companies, and he is currently the VP of the Board of the Society of High-Performance Computing Professionals. Deimbacher has an MSc-degree in Petroleum Engineering and a PhD-degree in Reservoir Engineering, both from the Mining University Leoben, Austria. Deimbacher has over 40 professional publications and he holds several patents.

    In 2015, Mr. Jackson founded and served as chief executive officer of Capital Waste Solutions, which collects and treats medical waste for most segments of the U.S. healthcare industry. He has served on the boards of various public companies, including First Interstate Bank of Oklahoma, Boatmen’s Bank of Oklahoma and Silicon Valley Bank of California. He is a past board member of Iron Gate, St. Simeon’s Episcopal Home and the State Governing Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma, previously volunteering as a Big Brother for 15 years.

    Mr. Jackson currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of The University of Tulsa, participating as a member of the Executive Committee and Chair of the Audit Committee. Mr. Abbott led teams that successfully applied analytical techniques to bidding strategy, customer behavior and operational risk prediction, capital equipment failure prediction, operational and marketing performance analysis and optimization, demand forecasting and segmentation. Prior to his focus on analytics, he provided program management and technology implementation services for clients undergoing complex change.

    At PwC, Mr. Abbott led the analytics practice for the commercial and industrial products industry sectors and was a core member of the leadership team that scaled the analytics investment to more than 250 employees across the US and India. At Diamond, he led the team that conceived and launched the Diamond Information and Analytics Center in the US and Mumbai, India, which was a forerunner to many of today’s big data and applied analytics practices. Other contributions include serving on the partner compensation committee, active and successful business development across several multi-year anchor accounts, and fostering career development through recruiting, mentorship and new partner sponsorship.

He was the chairman of the organising committee for the highly successful Intelligent Energy Conference in 2008, and is now on the SPE intelligent Energy committee for 2014. Prior to founding IBLYTICs LLC she worked in Schlumberger and held various positions in research, consulting and operations while working in the United States, Russia and Brazil with Data and Consulting Services and Drilling and Measurements Segment. She also worked in Lower48 Unconventional plays at ConocoPhillips.

    Ms. Borovskaya has B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in applied mathematics and physics and Ph.D. in mathematical modelling from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Russia.

    Irina Borovskaya is an active member of SPE and SPWLA. Ms Borovskaya was a President of the SPE New York and New England Petroleum Section (2010-2011) and a Director for International Relations for the SPE Brazil Section Board of Directors (2012-2013). She was nominated and served as an SPE Ambassador Lecturer in 2012. She served as a Membership Chair and Secretary for the SPWLA Brazil Chapter during 2012-2013. Ms. Borovskaya has been on the Board of Directors of Houston Chapter of SPWLA as Editor during 2014-2015, as Treasurer during 2015-2016. Currently she is serving as President of the chapter (2016-2018).

    Irina Borovskaya is an operations research and data analytics enthusiast and promotes data driven approaches in petroleum and business applications.

    Jim recently retired from Chevron after almost 37 years with the major International Oil & Gas Company. After moving from Houston to Colorado Springs, Colorado Jim established Reflections Data Consulting, LLC to continue his work in the area of data management and analytics for Exploration and Production industry.

    Jim is a Chevron Fellow Emeritus and was a Distinguished Lecturer for the Society of Petroleum Engineers in 2010-2011, speaking on the topic of “Putting the Focus on Data.” He is a frequent speaker at SPE conferences on Digital/Intelligent Energy and the Data Foundation. His interests lie in the full spectrum of the information value chain from data capture, data management, data visualization, data access, modeling and analytics, simulations and serious gaming.

    While only a digital immigrant, Jim has embraced social media (with the help of his daughter, Emily, a real Digital Native) and is a fervent blogger and has experimented with YouTube like videos to help train and mentor the new generation of Digital Natives and Digital Engineers entering the oil and gas industry.

    In his last position with Chevron, Jim was the Senior Advisor in the Global Upstream IT organization and worked on a variety of strategy projects concerning the future of the IT function as it relates to the Digital Oil Field.
